My Journey as a Mom – Why I Started This Blog
When you become a parent, you expect challenges. Sleepless nights, messy houses, and the occasional tantrum all come with the territory. But for some of us, the challenges go deeper.
I’m a mom who has spent countless hours trying to understand my child’s emotional and behavioral struggles. The frustration, the worry, the feeling of not knowing what to do next — it can feel overwhelming and lonely at times.
Over the years, I’ve spoken with other parents who are walking similar paths. Parents who are searching for answers, support, and sometimes just reassurance that they are not alone. One thing became very clear: many families are going through the same struggles, but we don’t talk about it enough.
That’s why I decided to start this blog.
It all started when she was around three years old. At first, it seemed like the usual toddler tantrums and typical behaviors that many kids go through. But as time went on, things didn’t really improve.
Around that same time, she also became extremely picky with food. She stopped eating the regular dinners we made as a family, and before I knew it, I was cooking separate meals for everyone—different dinners for the kids, something for myself, and something for my husband. It slowly became the new normal in our house.
About a year passed like this before I finally decided to have her evaluated. The first diagnosis we received was ADHD. While I respected the doctor’s opinion, deep down I wasn’t fully convinced that all of the behaviors we were seeing could be explained by ADHD alone. Still, I followed the recommendations we were given and hoped things would improve.
Another year went by, but instead of getting better, the behaviors seemed to get worse. She would throw herself on the floor during meltdowns, refuse to follow directions, and sometimes become physically aggressive—hitting, biting, and lashing out when she was overwhelmed.
As a parent, it was heartbreaking and confusing. I kept wondering what was really going on and how I could best help her.
